About this opportunity

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is seeking sealed bids for newly manufactured furniture to support the Elmer Knopf Learning Center (EKLC), a center-based school in Flint, Michigan serving students identified as Moderately Cognitively Impaired (MoCI) and Autistic (ASD) from 21 districts across Genesee County, grades 8-26. The procurement encompasses a comprehensive range of furniture items from multiple manufacturers, including Lorell folding chairs and trolleys, Sandusky Lee steel storage cabinets, Academia chair/desk combos, Virco student chairs with arms, Smith System teacher desks and noodle chairs, AmTab activity tables in various configurations, Allsteel personal tower wardrobes, and SitOnIt task chairs, with line item quantities ranging from single units to over 300 pieces for specific models. Bidders must provide unit costs, total costs, freight costs, and lead times for each manufacturer, with all pricing including complete delivery, setup, installation, receiving, storage, delivery coordination, and removal of all packaging materials and debris. Installation services explicitly include coordination at the facility with no loading dock available, requiring special handling procedures. Sealed bids must be submitted in writing on the official GISD Bid Form (Attachment B) with one original and two copies delivered to the Erwin L. Davis Education Center at 2413 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Michigan 48507, by April 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM EST; bids received after this deadline or submitted via fax or email will not be accepted. Questions must be directed to Megan Sturk via email at msturk@geneseeisd.org no later than 72 business hours before the bid due date, with all responses provided in addendum form. Bid opening and evaluation will occur on the same date and time as the deadline, with award anticipated at the GISD Board of Education's regular meeting on May 11, 2021.

No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, or other protected classifications are identified in the procurement documents. However, all bidders must comply with Michigan's Public Act 517 of 2012 (Iran Economic Sanctions Act) and provide notarized certification confirming they are not Iran-linked businesses; failure to provide this sworn certification results in bid rejection. Additionally, bidders must submit a notarized Public Act 232 of 2004 Familial Relationship Disclosure statement and a School Safety Affidavit confirming compliance with Michigan state legislation and lack of convictions for specified offenses. All persons working on District property must be fingerprinted with criminal background clearances from State Police and FBI. Bidders must also submit a certified check or bid bond equal to 5 percent of the total bid amount, which will be returned upon successful award and contract signature, and the awarded vendor must provide a Performance, Labor, and Materials Bond equal to the final contract amount. Bid prices must remain valid for ninety days from the bid opening date, and the District reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, split the award among multiple vendors, or cancel the RFP at its discretion. No incumbent vendors, budget ranges, or award values are specified in the available documentation; pricing information will be determined through the competitive bidding process.
