About this opportunity
The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District is seeking a qualified creative individual or team to design, fabricate, and install educational bathroom spaces at the Madison Public Market. The project, titled "Educational Bathroom Design – P(ee)SA", aims to transform fourteen high-traffic public bathrooms into innovative "learning lavatories" that engage visitors and promote environmental awareness. The selected consultant will be responsible for creating spaces that foster connections to water, stimulate curiosity, and advocate for pro-environmental behaviors. Proposals must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. CT on October 7, 2024, either in person at 1610 Moorland Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53713, or via email to catherineh@madsewer.org. Evaluation criteria will likely include the proposer's qualifications, creative approach, pricing, and project schedule. The project timeline spans from October 2024 through May 2025, with the design phase beginning in November 2024 and fabrication and installation occurring from March through May 2025.
The procurement appears to be open to all interested bidders without specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises. The project has a total budget of $200,000, with compensation structured on an hourly rate plus expenses basis. Upon completion, the Public Market Foundation will own all materials, fixtures, artwork, and other project elements, while the District will retain approval rights over modifications for 60 months. Potential bidders are required to check the district's website (https://www.madsewer.org/contracting-center/) for any addenda 72 hours before the proposal deadline. The District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and is federal and state tax-exempt. Interested parties can direct questions to Catherine Harris, Pollution Prevention Specialist, at 608-867-6426 or catherineh@madsewer.org. The project will require close collaboration with various stakeholders to bring the innovative bathroom design concept to fruition.
