About this opportunity
The Galveston Independent School District (GISD) is seeking competitive sealed proposals for E-Rate Category 2 Equipment, Services, and Cabling through Solicitation CSRFP 2024-25-003. The procurement targets technology infrastructure solutions for the district's administrative offices located at 3904 Ave T, Galveston, Texas 77550. Specific technical requirements include network equipment with redundant power and stackability for all switches, fiber interconnect at 10GB speeds using Single Mode standard, and cabling infrastructure predominantly utilizing Cat 6 with some Cat 6a implementations. Proposals must be submitted to the GISD Purchasing Department by Friday, January 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM CST, with vendor names to be read aloud at that time. The evaluation process will remain confidential until the GISD Board of Trustees awards the contract, and the district will use specified criteria to determine which proposal provides the best quality at the most economical cost. Notably, GISD reserves the right to request post-proposal modifications, including best and final offers, and explicitly states that the award may not necessarily go to the lowest bidder.
The solicitation does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions on respondent types. The current infrastructure includes Single Mode fiber optic networks and predominantly Cat 6 cabling, with the new Ball High School featuring a Corning fiber to the edge solution. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed, the procurement is aligned with E-Rate Category 2 funding, which typically supports internal connections, managed internal broadband services, and basic maintenance of eligible internal connections for schools and libraries. Vendors interested in responding can direct questions to Ana Escobar, Purchasing Coordinator, at anaescobar@gisd.org. The district maintains comprehensive flexibility in the procurement process, reserving the right to accept or reject any proposals and emphasizing that evaluation will consider multiple factors beyond pricing. Integration with existing network infrastructure will be a critical consideration for potential vendors.
