About this opportunity

Melbourne Airport Authority is requesting bids for demolition and clearing of classroom and hangar buildings formerly occupied by Eastern Florida State College, structured as a lump sum contract with proposals due October 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference with site visit is scheduled for September 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. EDT at the Melbourne Airport Authority Board Room; additional site visits may be arranged between September 29 and October 8 on Tuesdays or Thursdays with 24 to 48 hours advance notice.

The scope encompasses demolition and site clearance as the first phase of the project. The successful bidder will manage maintenance of traffic, coordination with concurrent contractors and airport operations, scheduling, permitting, subcontractor bidding and management, work supervision, document control of submittals and RFIs, inspection coordination, commissioning, training, and project closeout. The project will proceed while Melbourne Orlando International Airport remains operational; the bidder must accommodate existing airfield activities adjacent to the project zone and provide maximum support to the Airport Authority and its tenants during Owner-specified work periods. The Melbourne Airport Authority emphasizes high expectations for coordination and professionalism given the operational constraints.

Bidders must submit a Bid Bond or Certified Check equal to 5% of the total bid amount and will be required to obtain a Public Construction Bond equal to 100% of the contract award amount prior to contract execution. Upon request within five business days after bid opening, the successful bidder must provide evidence of financial responsibility, experience, qualifications, and satisfactory completion of similar previous projects. Written questions are due by 2:00 p.m. on October 13, 2026, with responses distributed by addendum. Sealed proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud on October 20. Bids may not be withdrawn for 60 calendar days following the bid deadline. Bid packages are available from demandstar.com, myvendorlink.com, and Sandra Acevedo at 321-723-6227 ext. 123 or sacevedo@mlbair.com.
