About this opportunity
The City of South Salt Lake is soliciting bids for a fence construction project located at 3291 S 900 West, seeking qualified contractors to install new fencing for a city facility parking lot. The procurement involves materials, supplies, and installation of two distinct fencing types: an 8-foot-tall mini chain link fence along the east and south property sides using 1-inch diamond 11-gauge galvanized steel wire, and a solid Trex Seclusions wood composite fence in Woodland Brown color along the west side and southwest corner. Contractors will be responsible for installing an owner-provided mechanical gate with a 20-foot opening, as well as completing additional site work including a new 25-foot light pole installation, security camera conduit, coconut fiber blanket installation, and retention basin reseeding. The bid submission deadline is November 13, 2025, at 3:00 PM MST, with multiple submission options including in-person delivery to South Salt Lake City Hall, email to aandrus@sslc.gov, or through the Utah Public Procurement Portal (UP3). A mandatory site visit is scheduled for November 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with additional site visit coordination available through Brent Dyer at 385.358.3698.
The solicitation does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged businesses or minority-owned enterprises. Bidders must provide a 5% bid security and meet all contracting and insurance requirements outlined in the project manual, with the contract to be awarded as a unit price contract. While no incumbent vendor is specified, the project requires precise technical specifications for fence installation, including specific post hole drilling depths, use of galvanized steel fasteners, and adherence to manufacturer guidelines for materials like the Trex Seclusions wood composite fencing. The city is a tax-exempt entity, and any contract changes exceeding 5% of the total contract amount or $50,000 will require authorization from the City Attorney and Mayor. Though a specific budget range is not disclosed, contractors should be prepared to provide comprehensive labor, equipment, and materials for complete fence installation meeting the city's municipal requirements and technical specifications.
