About this opportunity
The Richmond County Board of Education, Georgia, is soliciting sealed bids from General Contractors for the Butler High Fields project (Project Number B-22-011-0117), a Bond Issue Program construction initiative at Butler High School. The scope of work encompasses demolition of an existing building and field improvements at the Butler High School campus. Sealed bids must be received by 3:00 p.m. local time on February 19, 2026, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read. A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference is scheduled for February 4, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the project site. Bidding documents are available for review at the Department of Maintenance and Facilities (2956 Mike Padgett Highway, Augusta, Georgia 30906) and may be obtained electronically at no charge from the Architect, Samuel "Dee" Beaird, Jr. (706-667-9784 or dbeaird@s3dg.com), or in printed form from Studio 3 Design Group (1617 Walton Way, Augusta, Georgia) for a refundable deposit of $150 per set. The contract will be awarded on a lump sum basis to the lowest responsive bidder, with all bids requiring a bid bond of not less than 5% of the base bid, and the successful bidder must furnish performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price. Bids must be submitted to Dr. Malinda Cobb, County Board of Education, Administrative Office, 864 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901, attention Mr. Bobby Smith, CPA, and no bid may be withdrawn for 35 days following the bid opening.
While the solicitation does not specify explicit set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise restrictions, the Program Manager, GMK Associates, has developed a database of prequalified Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Vendors to promote local participation, which is available through Jeanine Usry at (706) 826-1127. The Richmond County Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive technicalities and informalities in the procurement process. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are identified in the available documentation, nor are any specific technology integration requirements noted. The solicitation does not include a disclosed budget range or award value; however, contractors should anticipate that the contract amount will be determined by the lump sum base bid submitted and evaluated through the competitive bidding process.
