About this opportunity

The City of Edgerton, Wisconsin, is soliciting competitive bids for a building demolition project located at 407 N Main Street in Edgerton. The comprehensive demolition services include complete removal of a commercial structure, involving dismantling of interior and exterior components, basement floors, footings, and an above-ground fuel tank. Specific project requirements mandate disconnection of all utilities, proper disposal of hazardous materials (including lead and asbestos), site restoration, erosion control installation, and selective salvage of certain architectural elements like concrete porticos and commercial glass doors. Contractors must submit sealed bids or email proposals by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, with a mandatory 5% bid bond or certified check. A mandatory site visit and building walkthrough was conducted on August 27, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., and all demolition work must be completed by December 31, 2019. The City will evaluate bids based on cost, schedule, and overall value, reserving the right to reject any or all submissions.

Bidders must possess Wisconsin state certification and demonstrate comprehensive insurance coverage, including $1,000,000 in auto liability, $2,000,000 in general liability, and $100,000 in workers' compensation. The contract requires a performance bond equal to the full proposal amount from a bonding company authorized to do business in Wisconsin. No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the documentation. Contractors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permits, managing debris monitoring, providing disposal receipts, and filing required waste disposal reports with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. While a specific budget range was not disclosed, the project involves complete demolition of a commercial property with additional requirements for hazardous material handling and site restoration. The contract will be awarded to the bidder determined to provide the best overall value to the City of Edgerton, with proposals remaining valid for 60 days after the bid opening.
