About this opportunity
The City of Southfield in Oakland County, Michigan is soliciting bids for the Bauervic Woods Park Green Infrastructure Improvements project, a comprehensive landscape and stormwater management initiative. The procurement involves constructing green infrastructure improvements along the west boundary of Bauervic Woods Park, with specific deliverables including shaping greenspace to create rain gardens, relocating excavated earth to park trail low areas, installing a small drainage basin for stormwater overflow, and populating rain gardens with native plugs and shrubs. Electronic bids are due on October 6, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. local time through the MITN website, with project anticipated to begin by November 10, 2025, and substantial completion expected by June 1, 2026. The project will involve extensive site clearing, earthwork, utility trenching, hot mixed asphalt pavement work, stone work, planting, and seeding across approximately 5.3 acres. Bidders must demonstrate capability in green infrastructure techniques, native planting strategies, and careful landscape restoration, with specific attention to soil compositions and woodland edge preservation.
The procurement encourages participation from Minority (MBE), Women (WBE), and Disadvantaged (DBE) Business Enterprise contractors, with the City reserving the right to reject any or all bids. Pre-qualified vendors are preferred, and contractors must comply with a living wage ordinance requiring specified hourly rates for covered employees. Bidders are required to provide performance bonds, labor and material bonds, and maintain specific insurance coverage as outlined in the contract documents. While no specific award value is explicitly stated, the project involves comprehensive infrastructure improvements funded by the City of Southfield. The contract includes a one-year maintenance period, indicating the City's commitment to long-term project success and environmental sustainability. Contractors will need to demonstrate expertise in green stormwater infrastructure, native ecosystem restoration, and precise landscape management techniques specific to the project's unique soil and ecological conditions.

This project is located along the west boundary of Bauervic Woods Park, in the City of Southfield, Michigan. The proposed work consists of the following: ▪ Shaping the greenspace on either side of an existing HMA path, to create a series of rain gardens; ▪ Placing the earth excavated from the proposed rain gardens across low areas in park trails immediately adjacent to the site; ▪ Installing a small drainage basin, to serve as an emergency overflow for stormwater to an existing catch basin on the other side of an HMA path; ▪ Populating the proposed rain gardens with native plugs and shrubs, and restoring disturbed areas outside of the raingardens with native and turf grass seeding.
