About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is pursuing a single-source procurement with Barfoots of Botley Ltd. for the "Fresh from Florida" Grocery Retailer Marketing Program, focusing on promoting Florida sweet corn in Waitrose Supermarkets in the United Kingdom. This procurement is specifically designed to support marketing efforts for Florida agricultural commodities under Florida Statute 571.2. The contract will run from its execution date through June 30, 2026, with key deliverables including preparing "Fresh From Florida" labels and packaging for Florida sweetcorn products to be sold under the Waitrose Essentials brand. The vendor must feature the corn at a discounted price and be a non-paid member of the "Fresh From Florida" Industry Membership program. Prospective vendors who believe they can provide these commodities or services must submit relevant information by July 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The department will review any received information to determine if the services are truly available from a single source, with potential publication of the intended decision on the Vendor Information Portal.
The procurement appears to have no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations. Barfoots of Botley is identified as the sole source vendor due to their exclusive distribution of packaged fresh Florida sweet corn in Waitrose Supermarkets and their status as the only approved vendor for in-store promotions, displays, and discounts. The estimated contract value ranges from approximately $45,000 to $60,000, covering marketing and promotional activities. No incumbent vendors other than Barfoots of Botley are mentioned in the documentation. The contract does not specify complex technological integration requirements, instead focusing on marketing and packaging services for agricultural products. The procurement is being conducted through Leon County, Florida, and follows specific statutory guidelines for single-source procurement under Section 120.57(3) of Florida Statutes. The unique positioning of Barfoots of Botley as the exclusive distributor justifies the single-source approach for this marketing program.
