About this opportunity
Goodrich Area Schools is soliciting bids for theatrical draperies and rigging updates at its high school and middle school auditoriums, with bids due October 12, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. and a mandatory site walkthrough on September 21, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Eligibility is restricted to three pre-approved system installers: Northcoast Studios, True North Rigging, and Tobins Lakes Sales. Prospective bidders must submit a letter of intent to bid five days before the bid opening date, including a list of five comparable projects completed within the last five years.
The scope spans removal of existing stage curtains and installation of new draperies and rigging at both facilities. Goodrich High School requires nine drapery items (main valance, main traveler, four borders, six legs, mid-stage traveler, upstage traveler, cyclorama, and cyc diaper) in 25-ounce Epic and 22-ounce Prism fabrics; Goodrich Middle School requires five items (main valance, main traveler, three borders, four side tabs, and upstage curtain). All draperies must be fabricated by Krieger using inherently flame-retardant polyester with manufacturer certificates of flame resistance for each shipment. Rigging work includes installing new rope and pulley systems for three travelers, replacing carriers, converting Pipe #16 to a Thern Pilewind PW12 automated hoist system (1/4" wire rope, 1,200-pound capacity, 35-foot maximum travel, 20 feet per minute line speed, three-phase 208–230/460-volt), and two optional additive packages for additional automated conversions. All hardware must meet or exceed ETCP standards with 8:1 safety factor for cables and fittings and maximum 1-1/2 degree fleet angle.
The contractor must be an approved manufacturer or authorized representative with minimum five years' experience and ten similar installations, and must employ an ETCP-certified theatre rigger as project manager or site foreman. The primary automated rigging manufacturer must hold ISO 9001 certification and carry $2,000,000 primary liability insurance and $10,000,000 excess coverage. All equipment carries a minimum three-year warranty. Product shipping costs are included in base bid and adder pricing; owner will not reimburse. Installation begins December 2026 with completion by July 31, 2027. Requests for Information are due September 28, 2026 by 3:00 p.m. Post-bid interviews and award occur October 13–21, 2026.
