About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for Goodrich Area Schools in Michigan outlining theatrical rigging and draperies upgrades for both Goodrich High School and Goodrich Middle School auditoriums. The project involves the removal and replacement of existing stage curtains and the installation of new theatrical rigging systems. At Goodrich High School, the work includes providing nine drapery items (main valance, main traveler, four borders, six legs of varying sizes, mid-stage traveler, upstage traveler, cyclorama, and cyc diaper) fabricated from 25-ounce Epic and 22-ounce Prism fabrics in specified dimensions. At Goodrich Middle School, five drapery items are required (main valance, main traveler, three borders, four side tabs, and upstage curtain). The rigging work includes installing new rope and pulley systems for three travelers at the high school, replacing traveler carriers, removing scenic track from Pipe #11 and converting it to an electric pipe, relocating the upstage traveler downstage, and converting Pipe #16 to an automated system using a Thern Pilewind hoist. Additional additive options include converting Pipe #11 to automated (Adder #1) and converting Pipes #5 and #9 to automated systems (Adder #2). A project site walkthrough is scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with the last day to submit Requests for Information on Monday, September 28, 2026, by 3:00 PM. Bids are due Monday, October 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM, with bid opening at 2:00 PM the same day. Post-bid interviews and project awards will occur between Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Installation is expected to commence in December 2026, with all work completed by July 31, 2027.

The specification requires all equipment to carry a minimum three-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Only three pre-approved system installers are eligible to bid: Northcoast Studios, True North Rigging, and Tobins Lakes Sales. Prospective bidders must submit a letter expressing intent to bid five days prior to the bid opening date, including a list of five comparable projects completed within the last five years. The rigging contractor must be an approved manufacturer or authorized representative with at least five years of experience and a minimum of ten similar installations, and must employ an Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) certified theatre rigger as the project manager or site foreman. All rigging hardware and components must meet or exceed ETCP standards with specified safety factors including 8:1 for cables and fittings and a maximum 1-1/2 degree fleet angle. All product shipping costs must be included in the base bid and adder pricing; the owner will not reimburse shipping expenses. The specification mandates that the primary automated rigging manufacturer provide a single-source solution for quality consistency, with ISO 9001 certification and primary liability insurance of $2,000,000 and excess coverage of $10,000,000. All draperies must be fabricated by Krieger with inherently flame-retardant polyester fabric, and certificates of flame resistance from the fabric manufacturer are required for each shipment.
