About this opportunity
The City of Rhinelander and Rhinelander Fire Department are seeking sealed bids for the procurement of one (1) Type I 4x4 ambulance, specifically based on a 2020 Ford F450 XLT Super Duty Diesel chassis with comprehensive custom specifications. The detailed bid solicitation requires bidders to submit extensive documentation, including exterior and interior design drawings, testing certifications, and compliance with federal standards such as KKK-A-1822, FMVSS, and DOT requirements. Bidders must be factory-authorized dealers with in-house and mobile service capabilities located within 180 miles of the fire station, and must provide proof of ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management Systems. The sealed bids are due by 3:00 PM Central Standard Time on June 3, 2021, and must be submitted to Rhinelander City Hall at 135 S. Stevens Street, Rhinelander, WI 54501, with "Bid for Ambulance" clearly marked on the envelope. The city will conduct a thorough review of proposals to ensure they meet the specified requirements, with the right to accept or reject any bid that does not serve the city's interests.
The bid solicitation does not specify any specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The ambulance procurement includes an $8,000 graphics allowance for vehicle wrapping and imposes strict delivery penalties of $150 per calendar day if the completed ambulance is not delivered and accepted within eight weeks of contract signing. Delays due to chassis, wiring harness, or material late arrivals will not be considered valid excuses for non-compliance. While the specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the detailed specifications suggest a significant investment in a high-quality, custom emergency response vehicle. The city reserves the right to select the most advantageous bid regardless of price, indicating that factors beyond cost will be considered in the evaluation process. Bidders are responsible for all preparation, submittal, and evaluation costs, and the final vehicle must be delivered with a full tank of diesel fuel and DEF to the Rhinelander Fire Station.
