About this opportunity
The State of Nevada Department of Administration Purchasing Division is procuring alfalfa hay on behalf of the Nevada Department of Corrections, Silver State Industries - Prison Ranch. The agency is seeking responsible vendors to provide a minimum of 1,500 tons of alfalfa hay in large bales, with delivery to commence immediately following notification of award. The hay must meet detailed specifications regarding crop year, cutting, origin, quality, and bale requirements. Inspection and acceptance procedures are outlined, and vendors must provide certified weight certificates. Awarded vendors will be responsible for unloading and stacking the hay at the designated delivery location in Carson City, Nevada. The solicitation requests pricing on a per-ton basis for both large and small bales of alfalfa hay, as well as separate pricing for shipping charges that include off-loading and stacking at the Prison Ranch. There are additional requirements regarding notification of delivery, delivery times, and regulations for drivers entering the facility. This is a FOB destination procurement, and the State reserves the right to make additional "opportunity buys" if in the best interest of the State.
The contract opportunity is limited to the State of Nevada, specifically the jurisdiction of Carson City. The contract was awarded to two vendors: Edward Viera for $113,555.00 and Herman Menezes LLC for $350,300.00. The pricing terms, set asides, incumbents, funding requirements, and other salient details are not explicitly provided in the Notice of Award document. Unsuccessful proposers have 11 days from the award date to file a Notice of Appeal.
