About this opportunity

The State of Nevada, through the Department of Corrections, is procuring a one-time supply of alfalfa hay to be delivered to the Carson City area. The agency is seeking responsible vendors to provide a minimum of 2,000 tons of alfalfa hay in large bales, with delivery to commence immediately following the Notification of Award. The hay must meet specific requirements regarding crop year, cutting, and freedom from weeds, mold, and damage. Bale sizes and condition are also specified, and the agency reserves the right to inspect and test the hay prior to and upon delivery. Delivery must be accompanied by certified weight tickets, and the awarded vendor(s) will be responsible for unloading and stacking the hay at the delivery location. Pricing is requested as FOB Destination, with shipping charges to include off-loading and stacking. The opportunity was posted on October 5, 2022, with a response due date of October 19, 2022.

The state has indicated a preference for goods produced in Nevada, and there are provisions for set-asides, such as for businesses owned by veterans with service-connected disabilities. According to the Notice of Award, two vendors were selected: Tom Madole Trucking for $511,200.00 for 1,420 tons at $330.00 per ton plus $30.00 per ton, and Edward Viera for $202,420.00 for 580 tons at $310.00 per ton plus $39.00 per ton. The award is valid until October 31, 2022, and unsuccessful proposers have 11 days to file a Notice of Appeal.
