About this opportunity
The City of Cadillac is seeking bids for the Aldrich Street Improvements Project, a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade spanning from Linden Street to Bond Street. The procurement involves street reconstruction with approximately 4,700 square yards of aggregate base, 760 tons of hot mix asphalt (HMA), 1,400 linear feet of curb and gutter, and 1,390 linear feet of sanitary sewer main. Bidders must submit sealed proposals to the Director of Finance at the Municipal Complex by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, with a mandatory 5% proposal guarantee in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, money order, or bid bond. Evaluation criteria include being the lowest responsible bidder with the best project timeline, and contractors must provide a detailed project schedule with their proposal. Contract documents are available from Prein & Newhof engineering firm for a non-refundable fee of $30.00, and the successful bidder will be required to furnish performance and labor/material bonds, each covering 100% of the contract price. The project involves significant infrastructure work, including road reconstruction, sewer improvements, drainage structures, and site restoration, with substantial completion required prior to October 17, 2025.
No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned in the procurement documents. The project requires coordination with Great Lakes Central Railroad, including obtaining necessary permits and insurance, which may impose additional qualifications on potential bidders. While no incumbent vendors are identified, the project demands compliance with City of Cadillac and Michigan Department of Transportation standards, including utility protection regulations and American-made material requirements. Contractors must maintain access to residences and businesses during construction and follow the 2011 Michigan Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Although a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project suggests a significant investment in infrastructure improvements. The project includes 52 separate line items covering various aspects of the work, from mobilization and traffic maintenance to specific infrastructure installations like sewer lines, fire hydrant assemblies, and pavement markings. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, with the City reserving the right to reject any or all proposals.
