About this opportunity

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is soliciting a sole-source certification under RFIN 9275-27-R-RFIN-00005 for an Ophthalmic Imaging and Angiography Platform (Spectralis OCT) from Heidelberg Engineering, with objections due August 26, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. This is a sole-source procurement — no competitive bidding will occur.

The Spectralis system is the current standard imaging platform in use by UMMC Ophthalmology and is the only ophthalmic imaging system featuring the patented TruTrack Active Eye Tracking technology. The system is an expandable diagnostic imaging platform combining scanning laser fundus imaging modalities, dye-based fluorescein angiography, and high-resolution simultaneous OCT imaging. Heidelberg Engineering GmbH (with U.S. subsidiary Heidelberg Engineering, Inc.) is identified as the sole manufacturer and supplier of the SPECTRALIS product line and all associated software.

The estimated procurement amount is $117,900 for a three-year purchase. UMMC has compared pricing against available market intelligence and pursued identified discounts; the amount is stated to fall within the expected price range for such products. The agency reserves the right to determine during the certification period whether additional enhancements, upgrades, support, or equipment fall within scope and may adjust spending authority accordingly.

Objections must be submitted to solesource@umc.edu using the required Vendor Form and Objection Certification available through the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration's Bureau of Purchasing and Contracting website. First advertisement was posted August 12, 2026; second advertisement will be posted August 19, 2026. Notice of Award or No Award will be posted August 26, 2026. Technical inquiries are directed to solesource@umc.edu.
