About this opportunity
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) Program Worldwide. This federal grant opportunity aims to provide funding through cooperative agreements and grants for education and health projects at schools, libraries, hospital centers, and centers of excellence located outside the United States that are founded or sponsored by U.S. citizens. Eligible applicants are U.S. non-profit organizations, including public universities, with established partnerships with overseas institutions. The application process has two phases, with Phase 1 focusing on public diplomacy and Phase 2 (by invitation only) evaluating management approach, construction/commodities, and environmental capability. The deadline for submitting Phase 1 applications is October 1, 2024.
USAID expects to make multiple awards totaling approximately $28.5 million, with a maximum individual award of $2 million. The period of performance will be up to 4 years for projects that include construction/renovation, and up to 2 years for projects with only durable commodities. This funding opportunity falls under the Foreign Assistance to American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) program, CFDA 98.006, which provides assistance to overseas schools and libraries founded or sponsored by U.S. citizens to serve as study and demonstration centers for American ideas and best practices.
