About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Construction and Facilities Management, issued a Request for Information (RFI) and Industry Day announcement regarding the historic rehabilitation of Wadsworth Chapel (Building 20) at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. This initiative is being conducted for market research and acquisition planning purposes only and does not constitute a binding commitment to contract or an invitation to bid. The RFI solicits information from interested contractors regarding general construction services needed to support the National Center for Warrior Independence (NCWI), a veteran-centered initiative designed to address homelessness and promote recovery, independence, and dignity. The building in question is an 8,760-square-foot chapel originally constructed in 1900 that has remained vacant since 1971. The project will utilize a design-build delivery approach for the full scope of rehabilitation activities.
Interested contractors must register for the onsite industry day event scheduled for April 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM PDT by submitting registration materials to gerald.brusaw@va.gov by April 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM PDT. Registration requires a cover sheet, company description, and capabilities statement addressing five specified questions regarding the firm's UEI number, company information, socioeconomic status, relevant past performance on historic restoration projects, and familiarity with California and federal procurement requirements. Firms are limited to two attendees, with at least one possessing technical qualifications. Following the industry day, respondents may submit a non-binding rough order of magnitude estimate including projected costs and project duration by April 15, 2026, not to exceed one page. All contractors are responsible for their own expenses associated with responding to the RFI, and responses will be used for market research purposes without further contractual commitment.
