About this opportunity
NASA Ames Research Center has issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ 80ARC025Q0002) for an X-ray Computed Tomography Scanner to enable advanced 3D imaging for materials and components analysis. The procurement seeks a commercial system with sub-1 micron spatial resolution capable of scanning samples up to 300 mm in diameter and height, including an X-ray source with up to 160 kV, detectors, a 4-axis manipulator, and comprehensive workstation configurations. The system must include an acquisition workstation with Windows 11 64-bit and a specialized reconstruction workstation featuring 28 computer cores, 2 NVIDIA GPUs, 768 GB RAM, and 8 TB storage, along with software for unit control, data acquisition, and reconstruction. NASA will evaluate offers using a best value trade-off approach considering Technical Approach (most important factor), Past Performance, and Price, with technical and past performance combined being significantly more important than price. Questions were due August 18, 2025, and quotes must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. EDT on August 27, 2025.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designation and falls under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The contract includes multiple line items covering the CT scanner, workstation software, installation and delivery, with optional items for 3D visualization software and an extended service agreement beyond the standard one-year warranty. Delivery is required within 5 months with installation at NASA Ames Research Center's Code TSM lab space in Moffett Field, California, to be completed within 30 days of delivery. The system must fit through doors measuring 82.5 inches high by 64 inches wide and weigh no more than 5 metric tons. The procurement includes comprehensive services such as packing, shipping, rigging, full onsite installation, and at least three days of training for up to five NASA personnel.
