About this opportunity
The 20th Contracting Squadron within the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is conducting market research for the replacement of Wrong Way Detection System sensors at Shaw Air Force Base. The procurement involves removing outdated sensors and installing upgraded Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) replacement sensors at three Access Control Points: Main Gate, 441 Gate, and Sumter Gate. The work is strictly limited to sensor replacement and integration, with the government retaining all existing infrastructure including conduit, wiring, mounting locations, control systems, and annunciation interfaces. Key requirements include providing all labor, materials, tools, and equipment; ensuring compatibility with existing control systems; performing functional testing; providing manufacturer documentation; complying with National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards; and offering a minimum one-year warranty on all materials and workmanship. Work must be performed during normal operating hours (Monday-Friday, 0730-1630, excluding Federal holidays) at Shaw AFB with coordination to minimize disruption to gate operations. Interested companies must submit a capability statement and projected period of performance by April 14, 2026, with no formal questions or offers to be submitted at this time, as this is a sources sought notice only.
This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, limiting competition to small business concerns. No incumbent contractor or current contract award value is mentioned in the notice. The statement of work does not specify a predetermined budget range or maximum award value, as the government is still in the market research phase to determine realistic timelines and capabilities. The primary objective of this sources sought phase is to gather information from potential contractors regarding their capabilities to complete the sensor replacement work and their estimated period of performance, which will inform the government's planning for the formal solicitation. The notice does not indicate the quantity of sensors beyond their location at three specific access control points, nor does it provide a government-estimated completion timeline, leaving these details for contractor input during the market research phase.
