About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Global Acquisitions, on behalf of the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations, has published a Special Notice announcing the selection of qualified architectural and engineering firms for further award consideration under a Worldwide AE Design IDIQ contract. This Special Notice identifies 12 firms that have advanced to the Request for Proposal stage following a competitive two-stage procurement process. The opportunity was originally posted on January 5, 2026, with an initial submission deadline of March 26, 2024. Over 100 responses were received during the initial solicitation phase. The contract represents a significant federal opportunity for comprehensive architectural and engineering services at various international locations.
The primary objective of this procurement is to establish indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts with qualified A/E firms capable of delivering services for Department of State building operations and facilities worldwide. The 12 selected firms—including notable organizations such as Ennead Architects LLP, KieranTimberlake LLC, Morphosis Architects, and SHoP Architects, Inc.—represent a mix of geographically distributed and nationally recognized architectural practices. This is a partially small business set-aside opportunity, indicating that a portion of the contract vehicles will be reserved for small business participation. The selected firms must now respond to the formal RFP to compete for final award consideration. No additional submissions are being accepted, as the selection process has progressed beyond the initial competition phase to the final proposal evaluation stage.
