About this opportunity

The United States Air Force Academy Dean of Faculty Department of Biology is seeking sources for a lifecycle replacement of an autoclave system and reverse osmosis water treatment system, with a sources-sought response deadline of June 18, 2026. This is a planning notice; funds are not presently available and no commitment or payment obligation exists.

The autoclave must have a chamber volume of at least 275 liters, support gravity, vacuum, and liquid sterilization cycles across 110–135°C temperature ranges, and feature a freestanding footprint close to 30" wide by 74" high by 48" deep. The unit requires an integrated electric steam generator (480V AC, 60Hz, 3-phase), a sterilizer control console (115V AC, 60Hz, 1-phase), a touchscreen interface, a PACS 3500 Programmable Logic Controller with preprogrammed cycles, and chamber and steam safety systems to prevent overpressurization. The reverse osmosis system must be wall-mounted with a bladder tank, produce up to 400 gallons per day, and include three pre-filters, a single membrane, manual bypass capability, and a polyphosphate feeder cartridge; electrical requirements are 115V AC, 60Hz, 1-phase. Rough dimensions for the RO system are 38" long by 26" wide by 7" deep.

Place of performance is the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. Equipment delivery must occur within 60 days of order placement. Installation teams require USAFA base access badging and background clearance; felons are ineligible. The smallest egress opening to Gregory Hall is 44" wide by 84" high; a freight elevator is available with an 8' by 7'10" door opening and 6,000-pound weight capacity. Vendors are responsible for hauling away and recycling existing equipment.

The procurement is contemplated as firm-fixed price under NAICS 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing), size standard 800 employees, with no set-aside applied.
