About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document issued on 9 June 2026 for the USAFA Autoclave System and Reverse Osmosis System contract opportunity. The document addresses logistical and procedural requirements for equipment delivery and installation at the United States Air Force Academy.

Key delivery and access requirements include: equipment must be delivered within 60 days after order placement; the smallest opening in the egress path to the installation location in Gregory Hall is 44" width by 84" height; a freight elevator is available with an 8' width by 7'10" height door opening, internal dimensions of 8' by 7'10" by 9' depth, and a 6,000-pound weight limit; Gregory Hall has a loading/unloading area with freight elevator access, though Fairchild Hall's dedicated dock is available as an alternative with bridge transport (involving a longer distance and slight slopes); no hurdles exist in the Gregory Hall egress path, but the Fairchild route presents obstacles; the facility can receive and store equipment prior to installation. Installation team personnel must coordinate with USAFA for base access and badging, undergo background checks (felons are prohibited), and provide valid government-issued identification. The vendor is responsible for hauling away and recycling existing equipment, as USAFA cannot perform this service.

USAFA Autoclave System and Reverse Osmosis System

Questions and Answers 9 June 2026

Q1. What is the smallest opening in the egress path (from delivery dock to position of install)?

A1. The smallest opening from delivery dock to install location are the doorways leading to the lab area. Both of these doorways have the following dimensions: 44” width by 84” height.

Q2. Does the building of installation have a dock?

A2. Gregory Hall (installation building) does not have a “dock” but there is a loading/unloading area with a freight elevator. If the vendor has a lift gate, we can easily use this area. However, if a dock is required, Fairchild Hall has a dedicated dock that can be used. Fairchild and Gregory Hall are connected with a bridge so we would just need to transport the equipment from Fairchild to

Gregory. This method will work, however, the distance between the Fairchild dock and the install location in Gregory is significant.

Q3. Can site receive the unit, somewhere to hold until installation occurs? Also someone to receive unit (Inspect packaging and sign)?

A3. Yes, we can receive the unit and hold until installation depending on the timing between delivery and install.

Q4. What is required delivery schedule?

A4. Delivery needs to be completed within 60 days after the order is placed.

Q5. If site of install is not on dock level, is there an elevator? If so what is door opening, internal size and weight limit?

A5. Yes, there is a freight elevator that can be used (both at Gregory Hall and Fairchild Hall).

a. Door Opening: 8’ width by 7’10” height

b. Internal Size: 8’ width by 7’10” height by 9’ depth

c. Weight limit: 6,000 pounds

Q5. Please confirm there are no hurdles within egress path (curb, stairs etc) that need to crossed over with unit on pallet jack

A5. No hurdles if using the Gregory Hall loading/unloading area. If using the Fairchild dock, long distance and slight slope (positive and negative) when traversing the bridge.

Q6. Are there any special requirements to work on base for our install team?

A6. Yes, the install team will need to coordinate with me for base access/badging. Background checks will be performed. Felons are not permitted onto USAFA. Members will need to bring a valid

Government issued ID (driver’s license is sufficient).

Q7. Is the facility able to recycle the existing equipment?

A7. Ideally, the vendor will haul away/recycle the existing equipment. The facility is not able to recycle the existing equipment.
