About this opportunity
The United States Space Force is procuring three (3) track ball controllers designed to serve as remote control solutions for existing K-Mount optical tracking systems, enabling these mounts to operate remotely from inside facilities where personnel cannot be present. The requirement calls for a two-axis force proportional tracking ball with a half-hemisphere ball interface, USB connectivity utilizing HID communication protocol, and a minimum 10-foot cable length compatible with Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 operating systems. Offerors must demonstrate the technical capacity to modify the commercial-off-the-shelf solution to ensure full integration with the L3 Brashear digital control system, with proposals required to prove either proven performance compatibility or the ability to modify software libraries accordingly. Award will be made to the responsible offeror with the lowest evaluated price whose offer is technically acceptable and meets all salient characteristics, with evaluation conducted on a pass/fail basis for technical acceptability followed by price ranking among technically acceptable proposals. The deadline for questions was April 21, 2026, the offer due date is May 4, 2026, and delivery is required by May 29, 2026, with offerors required to hold their quotes firm for 30 calendar days from the receipt date.
This acquisition is designated as a 100% Small Business Set-Aside under the NAICS code 334118 (Computer Terminal and Other Computer Peripheral Equipment Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees, and no incumbent contractor is identified in the solicitation materials. The contract will be issued as a firm fixed price commercial product order using Standard Form 1449, with payment to be made electronically through the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) system. Deliverables include three fully functional track ball controllers with approximately 3-inch diameter ball top hemispheres, comprehensive operation and service manuals with Windows drivers, configuration procedures, firmware update instructions, dimensioned drawings with mounting specifications, one set of firmware code flash interface hardware for future re-flashing capabilities, and limited post-delivery integration support with user training. The place of performance is Lompoc, California, with final delivery to F4D1R3 Mobile Optics DOP at Vandenberg Space Force Base, and the contracting officer is Vincente Mills of FA4610 (Vandenberg Space Force Base). No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the solicitation materials.
