About this opportunity
The Department of State's US Embassy Madrid seeks supply and installation of fire-rated doors and walls fireproofing at the sub-basement facility, with proposals due May 18, 2026. Amendment No. 1, issued May 4, 2026, extended the deadline to May 19 at 16:00 hours and modified scope requirements; offerors must acknowledge receipt of the amendment.
Place of performance is Madrid, Spain (postal code 28006). No set-aside applies. The NAICS code is 922160, Fire Protection; PSC is N042.
The scope includes design, supply, and installation of nine two-hour UL-classified fire-rated assemblies: three double-leaf and six single-leaf fire-rated hollow metal door assemblies with factory-fabricated UL 2 HR labeling, fire-rated wall construction around critical equipment rooms (15 kV step-down transformer, low voltage/ATS, oil boiler, UPS, and diesel fire pump), and firestopping of all penetrations using UL-approved systems. Acceptable wall types are CMU block or metal stud framing with fire-rated gypsum board per UL design details. Doors must comply with NFPA 80 and EN 1634-1, include self-closing and positive-latching mechanisms, and panic hardware for egress. Specific door locations and dimensions are detailed in the Statement of Work. Material requirements include hollow metal construction with minimum 1.5 mm steel skins and factory primer finishes.
Contractors must conduct a required site visit and survey prior to quotation, obtain local authority permits, and submit pre-award documentation including product data, shop drawings, and Critical Path Method schedule. Work must be completed within ninety calendar days after Notice-to-Proceed, with final door design due ten days after NTP. A safety program including Activity Hazard Analysis must be submitted ten days before work commencement. Warranty shall meet Spanish construction standards.
