About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for RFQ No. 19SP5026Q0013 concerning sub-basement fireproofing work at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain. The document does not specify response dates, award dates, or pricing terms, as it addresses clarifications to the underlying Statement of Work rather than solicitation administrative details.

The Q&A clarifies technical and scope requirements for the fireproofing project. Key work requirements include: lining partition walls with EI-120 material up to the slab in the locker room (with partial false ceiling demolition), closing off an interior door in the UPS room with a partition wall, replacing door 7A with a fire-rated door, and completing perimeter sealing of frame-to-wall joints with smoke seals around door perimeters for sectorization and explosion-resistance compliance. CAD drawings and room photographs have been added as attachments to the solicitation. Standard door sizes are permitted if they closely match specified measurements. Contractors are not required to verify existing walls and slabs for 120-minute fire resistance ratings or to install fire dampers in ducts. Firestop collars are required for plastic pipe penetrations. Signage preservation and installation requirements are not included in scope. The solicitation permits contractors to submit two pricing options—one for full CLIN award and another with a specified cost increase if not all CLINs are awarded.
