About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting a sources-sought survey to identify contractors capable of depot-level repair and qualification of C-5 Fire Suppression System components for the C-5 Galaxy cargo aircraft, with responses due by August 16, 2026. Security clearance level and foreign participation limits remain undetermined. No set-aside applies.

The anticipated acquisition strategy is a five-year firm-fixed-price requirements contract. Responses must address capability to repair nine specific FSS valve and component assemblies identified by NSN and part number, including diaphragm valves, regulating valves, relief valves, and restrictor valves.

Contractors must demonstrate dedicated enclosed facility space with multi-shift operational capability, specified electrical and compressed-air infrastructure, and security protocols for government property. The contractor must possess or subcontract for ten specialized shops: machine shop, metal plating, metal processing (heat treating/welding), hydraulic, non-destructive inspection, electrical/environmental, mechanical accessories, paint and corrosion, clean room for composites, and sealant mixing facility. ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications, documented special tooling and test equipment, hazardous waste disposal capability, and past performance documentation are required. Contractors may propose teaming or subcontracting arrangements to address capability gaps.

Responses should be submitted to Janet Butcher (janet.butcher@us.af.mil) and Regina Daniely (regina.daniely@us.af.mil). Participation in this market research does not guarantee future solicitation or award, and the government will not reimburse survey participation expenses. Large and small businesses, joint ventures, and teaming arrangements are encouraged to participate; small businesses may identify work areas for exclusive small-business reservation.
