About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is conducting market research to identify potential contractors for the rental of a commercial-grade chiller at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The Sources Sought Notice seeks information from businesses capable of providing a 55-ton cooling capacity chiller for installation from June 1 to October 1, 2025. Interested contractors must submit detailed capabilities statements, including company information, GSA contract numbers, business size/socioeconomic status, and experience with commercial chiller rentals. Respondents are required to provide their estimated lead time for delivery and installation, and demonstrate technical capabilities to meet the specific requirements outlined in the draft Statement of Work. The submission deadline is 4 pm MDT on April 10, 2025, with responses to be sent electronically to Tyree Ross and Laurie Lykken from the Air Force contracting team.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside for small businesses, though contractors are asked to specify their business classification. The chiller rental project requires precise technical specifications, including connection to an existing 480v/3 ph/60 Hz electrical system with a 120A circuit breaker and integration with a 200 gpm water system. Contractors must be prepared to handle specific infrastructure requirements, including managing a 10-degree temperature drop and maximum 10-foot head loss in the water system. The project involves not only chiller rental but also includes responsibilities for preventative maintenance, coordination with government representatives, and complete removal of equipment at the contract's conclusion. While no specific budget range is mentioned, the detailed technical requirements suggest a complex and potentially substantial rental agreement focused on meeting the Air Force Base's temporary cooling infrastructure needs.
