About this opportunity

The National Cancer Institute (NCI), a component of the Department of Health and Human Services, is conducting a Sources Sought Notice to identify qualified businesses capable of providing comprehensive maintenance and repair services for Illumina laboratory instruments. The solicitation covers multiple scientific equipment types, including Micro Array Scanners (iScan and NextSeq 550), Sequencers (ISeq 100, MiniSeq, MiSeq variants, and NextSeq systems), In-Vitro Diagnostic Instruments (MiSeqDX, NextSeq 550Dx, NovaSeq 6000Dx), and Robotic Instrument Attachments (Robotic Manipulator Arm and Robotic Liquid Handler). Potential vendors must complete a detailed vendor questionnaire demonstrating their technical capabilities, equipment maintenance experience, and service protocols. The evaluation will focus on vendors' ability to provide comprehensive maintenance, including response times, technician qualifications, and access to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and procedures. The response deadline is December 16, 2024, with submissions to be sent via email to Contracting Officer John Russell, and the associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 811210 with a size standard of $34.0 million.

This pre-solicitation notice is not currently set aside for small businesses, but NCI is specifically interested in determining whether a small business set-aside might be possible based on responses received. The government emphasizes that this notice is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or guarantee of contract award. Vendors will be evaluated on their demonstrated capabilities to service multiple Illumina instrument types, with particular attention to their technical expertise, service response capabilities, and ability to provide comprehensive maintenance solutions. While no specific budget or award value is currently disclosed, the notice suggests the potential for a significant maintenance and repair contract covering a wide range of sophisticated laboratory equipment. The solicitation aims to identify vendors with proven experience in maintaining complex scientific instruments, with a focus on detailed technical capabilities, service reliability, and comprehensive maintenance approaches for advanced research and diagnostic equipment.
