The system must inspect Ball Grid Array solder joints and voids on populated PCBs following automated placement. Mandatory specifications include adjustable anode voltage (0–80 kV) and current (up to 200 micro-amps), focal spot size of 10 microns or finer, minimum geometric magnification of 500x, minimum optical magnification of 1,200x with selectable field-of-view options (minimum 25 mm and 50 mm), and five-axis joystick-controlled manipulator with minimum X/Y scan area of 5.5" x 9". The system shall accommodate boards of minimum 12" x 8", provide integrated laser locator for sample positioning, include image processing software with variable frame averaging and on-screen measurement capability, output static and video formats (.jpg, .tif, .avi), operate on 120V/60Hz or 220V/50Hz, and comply with U.S. radiation safety standards (21 CFR 1020.40) with full shielding and CE marking or equivalent. A self-contained internal computer with integrated display, wireless keyboard/mouse, dual-display capability, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity is required.
