About this opportunity
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a proposal for the design, manufacture, testing, and installation of a Small Angle X-Ray Scattering (SAXS) Flight Tube for the Advanced Light Source beamline 12.3.1 experimental hutch. The solicitation, issued by the Department of Energy, requires a vendor to create a vacuum-compatible flight tube approximately 4 meters long and 1 meter in diameter that can house a Dectris 6M detector with translation capabilities along X, Y, and Z axes. Offerors will be evaluated based on engineering capabilities, past performance, quality assurance, lead time, and compliance with technical specifications. The proposal is due by April 30, 2025, with a desired delivery date before September 30, 2026. Evaluation criteria will focus on best overall value, considering performance features, supplier attributes, and pricing.
The contract is not set aside for a specific business type, but is targeted at small businesses with 1,000 or fewer employees in the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The place of performance is Berkeley, CA 94720, and the project is governed by the University of California's Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-05CH11231 with the U.S. Department of Energy. While specific award value is not explicitly stated, the solicitation includes comprehensive requirements for detailed design reports, factory acceptance testing, documentation, shipping, and on-site installation support. The project timeline spans approximately 73 weeks, with critical milestones including design reviews, fabrication, testing, and final installation. The subcontractor will be responsible for comprehensive quality control and providing technical support up to one year after delivery.
