The U.S. Geological Survey seeks a service contract for maintenance and technical support of a Thermo Fisher Scientific Element-XR inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), with quotations due September 18, 2026 and questions due September 11. This is a Total Small Business set-aside, NAICS 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance), issued as a Request for Quote under FAR Part 12 and FAR 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Commercial Items.
Place of performance is USGS Mineral & Environmental Research facilities in Colorado (Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Gilpin, Jefferson, and Park counties). The contract period runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027 on a Firm-Fixed Price basis.
The contractor must provide comprehensive technical support for the Element-XR ICP-MS hardware and peripherals, including the Pfeiffer Duo 5M vacuum pump, Edwards nXL110i interface pump, and ThermoFlex chiller. All labor, travel, tools, and OEM parts are contractor-supplied. Emergency repair service must initiate within 72 hours of notice; responses to support queries must occur within 48 hours. The contractor shall perform at least one preventative maintenance service annually using standard OEM maintenance activities and parts kits. Post-service testing must confirm proper operation using 1 ppb multi-element Tune solution with results documented in pre- and post-inspection reports meeting OEM standards. If performance standards are not met, the contractor must redo work at no additional cost within 10 days of notification.
Contractor personnel requiring facility access must obtain Federal PIV credentials and pass background investigations. Award is made to the lowest-priced offer meeting technical standards. Invoices must be submitted electronically through the Invoice Processing Platform. The Service Contract Act wage determination (Colorado, Wage Determination No. 2015-5419, Revision 33, effective August 22, 2026) applies.

SERVICE CONTRACT FOR MASS SPECTROMETER
1) This Synopsis/Solicitation Notice is to announce the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI}, U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for SERVICE CONTRACT FOR MASS SPECTROMETER at The US Geological Survey (USGS) USGS Mineral & Environmental Res.
2) The synopsis/solicitation is 140G0226Q0169 and is being issued as a Request for Quote.
3) The award for this requirement shall be made using the policies in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and in conjunction with the policies and procedures for solicitation, evaluation, and award prescribed in FAR 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items, as appropriate for this acquisition. Award shall be made to the vendor whose quote, conforming to this RFQ is determined to be the most advantages to the government.
4) This solicitation is a SMALL BUSINSESS SET ASIDE. The associated NAICS Code is 811210 - Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance.
