About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration is conducting a sources-sought market research effort for quarterly kitchen hood and duct cleaning services at two VA medical centers in Washington state: Seattle Veterans Hospital and VA American Lake. The procurement will involve a single firm fixed-price contract covering 20 kitchen exhaust systems (12 in Seattle, 8 in Tacoma), with services requiring comprehensive cleaning and inspection of hoods, ducts, and fan systems in strict compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Interested contractors must submit detailed capability statements to Craig Brown (craig.brown7@va.gov) by March 28, 2025, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time, with specific requirements including company information, SAM UEI number, point of contact details, and written confirmation of intent to submit a future offer. The VA is seeking to understand market capabilities and potential qualified sources, emphasizing that this is a pre-solicitation research phase with no immediate pricing or formal solicitation being requested. Contractors must demonstrate ability to perform services without direct government supervision, being fully accountable to the contract terms.
The sources-sought notice indicates no specific set-aside designation, and the procurement falls under NAICS code 561790 (Other Services to Buildings/Dwellings) with a business size standard of $9 million. While no incumbent contractor is mentioned, the VA will use the responses to help shape the eventual procurement strategy and requirements. The contract will cover quarterly cleaning services, with the Puget Sound Safety office determining the exact inspection and cleaning schedule for the 20 kitchen exhaust systems. No specific award value or budget range is provided in the current documentation, and contractors are explicitly warned that no reimbursement will be made for preparing responses to this market research effort. The VA emphasizes that this announcement is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a commitment to issue a solicitation or award a contract, serving purely as a mechanism to understand potential market capabilities for these specialized building maintenance services.
