About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA VHA) is conducting market research for medical waste removal and sharps disposal services for the Valley Coastal Bend region in Texas. The pre-solicitation notice seeks to identify potential contractors capable of providing bio-waste and sharps disposal services across eight VA facilities, including locations in Harlingen, McAllen, Corpus Christi, Laredo, and Brownsville. Interested businesses are required to submit detailed information including business name, contact details, SAM registration status, NAICS code, business size, and type by December 31, 2024, at 9:00 AM Central Time. The VA is particularly interested in determining the availability of small businesses that can provide these services and is requesting estimated market research pricing to help determine the procurement strategy. Contractors must be prepared to demonstrate their ability to handle approximately 26,129 pounds of annual waste and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
The opportunity is specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) under NAICS code 562112, with the contract structure including one base year from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, and four potential option years. Contractors must be prepared to provide FDA-approved sharps containers, wall-mounted cabinets, bio-waste containers, and comprehensive disposal services. While specific award values are not disclosed, the VA will use the submitted pricing information to determine whether capable small businesses can provide fair and reasonable pricing. The contracting officer, Mr. Shawn R. Reinhart, will oversee the procurement process, with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) being Leroy Diaz, Chief of Environmental Management Services. Businesses with existing GSA or VA Federal Supply Schedule contracts are encouraged to highlight these credentials in their responses.
