About this opportunity

The Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Corporation to refurbish and repair a Virginia-class submarine's secondary propulsion system rotational deployment mechanism. The agency published a sources sought notice to determine if other vendors could perform the requirements of refurbishing the mechanism, including inspection, repair, painting and testing services, but received no responses. Proposals are due by December 20, 2023.

There is no set-aside designation for this procurement. Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Corporation is identified as the original equipment manufacturer with proprietary design information and expertise to perform the required repairs and refurbishment. While the estimated value of the contract is redacted, the justification and approval cites Curtiss-Wright as the only responsible source due to its expertise manufacturing, testing and repairing the component. The agency does not currently plan to compete similar future requirements but will assess alternative sources if they emerge.
