About this opportunity

The Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration issued a Request for Information on July 12, 2026, seeking capability statements from vendors able to produce or contribute to microelectronics manufacturing for nuclear weapons modernization, with responses due by August 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM Mountain Daylight Time. The RFI is open to all business sizes, including small businesses with 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, veteran-owned, and small disadvantaged business designations. The Office of Warhead Assembly and Non-Nuclear Modernization (NA-193) seeks vendors qualified in complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) products—digital, analog, and mixed signal—as well as micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), silicon photonics, and quantum devices such as micro-fabricated ion traps. Respondents must demonstrate radiation-hardened manufacturing capability, ISO 9001:2015 certification, Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) certification where applicable, ability to support R&D partnerships with process modifications, and freedom from foreign ownership, control, or influence while possessing or able to obtain top secret facility security clearance. Capability statements must not exceed ten pages (12-point font, excluding cover pages) and include company name, primary point of contact, CAGE code, SAM UEI number, primary NAICS code, business size designation, and applicable GSA Federal Supply Schedule contract numbers. Submit as PDF to Brenda Hamilton at brenda.hamilton1@nnsa.doe.gov with copy to Ashley Patterson at ashley.patterson@nnsa.doe.gov. This RFI is for market research only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award; the Government will not reimburse submission costs or return responses.

Notice text

Request For Information (RFI) only for interested vendors that can provide capaibility statement to fulfill the requirement in support of the Office of Warhead Assembly and Non-Nuclear Modernization (NA-193), to determine the existing market capability of businesses to produce or contribute to the production of microelectronics.

NA-193 oversees the modernization of production facilities that manufacture the materials and components necessary for the long-term reliability of the Nation’s nuclear weapons, including microelectronics.  These microelectronic products include a variety of complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) based products (including digital, analog, and mixed signal), micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), silicon photonics, and quantum devices (e.g., micro-fabricated ion traps).

Attachment A  Technical Requirements are attached for further details.

Please provide your capability statements to the Primary POC; Brenda Hamilton, brenda.hamilton1@nnsa.doe.gov and cc Ashley Patterson, ashley.patterson@nnsa.doe.gov
