About this opportunity
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency seeks proposals through its ReSource program to develop an integrated system capable of converting plastics and other energy-dense waste materials into food and strategic chemicals. Technologies should be able to operate reliably in austere environments to process single-use waste and scavenged materials into usable feedstock, thereby extending long-term missions and reducing logistical burdens associated with resupply. Proposals are due November 5, 2019 and must address all technical areas and follow instructions in the attachments, including the revised budget template, to be considered responsive. The work will be evaluated and conducted over multiple phases and years to advance the technology to operational demonstration.
There is no set-aside designation for this opportunity. The solicitation is expected to result in cost-plus contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, or other transactions with responsible sources capable of satisfying requirements. Budget ranges and timelines for work are to be specified using the provided templates over three phases focusing initially on proof of concept and ultimately demonstrating operations. Monthly progress reporting and collaboration between performers is required. Meetings and demonstrations for DARPA are also anticipated over the course of performance.
Notice text
The goal of the ReSource program is to provide the military with an integrated system to convert plastics, and other energy-dense waste, into food and other strategic chemicals. Developed technologies should function in austere environments to extend long-term missions by engaging single-use wastes and scavenged materials as feedstock, consequently decreasing the logistic burdens and risks associated with delivery of supplies.
