About this opportunity
The Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is issuing a Request for Information on small uncrewed aerial system (sUAS) capabilities across five lines of effort—Hardware, Software, Communications, Sensors, and Kinetics—to identify available production-ready methodologies and capabilities; responses are due November 30, 2026. This is a pre-solicitation, market research RFI with no set-aside and no formal commitment to award.
The five LOEs map to five distinct missions: Long Range One Way Attack, Air Interdiction, Medium Range One Way Attack, Air Launched Effects, and Medium Range Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance. All proposed systems and critical components must comply with Section 848 of the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 116-92), requiring domestic production. Sought platforms span three weight categories: Group 1 (up to 20 lbs), Group 2 (20–55 lbs), and Group 3 (55–1,320 lbs).
Each LOE has an attached Statement of Objectives specifying production-ready delivery within six months of contract award. Common mandatory Key Performance Parameters across LOEs include System Security and Anti-Tamper Protection, Cybersecurity resilience, Sustainment, and Exportability to foreign countries in compliance with ITAR and export control regulations. Key System Attributes include autonomous flight path planning and target identification, Position/Navigation/Timing in GPS-denied environments, secure data links, common control software compatibility, open architecture interfaces, and wartime survivability.
The RFI includes a vendor question log template, market research focus questions requesting UEI, CAGE code, technical specifications, production rates, and supply chain documentation, and five attached SOOs. Respondents should address production readiness, relevant experience, preliminary cost estimates, and potential limitations. The government reserves the right to modify or cancel the effort at any time.
