About this opportunity

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) at the Federal Correctional Institution in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a contractor to replace refrigeration equipment in the Food Service Warehouse. The project involves removing and installing three combo freezer/cooler units and one standalone freezer, with comprehensive requirements for equipment, labor, and materials. Contractors must provide all necessary electrical components, handle refrigerant recovery, and meet strict institutional security protocols. The solicitation requires contractors to complete the project within 90 calendar days of order receipt, with specific technical specifications including semi-hermetic compressors, R404A refrigerant, and 208V electrical configuration. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed, contractors will likely be assessed on their ability to meet technical requirements, security clearance capabilities, and project management expertise.

The contract is not set aside for any specific business category and is open to responsible entities capable of meeting the technical and security requirements. No incumbent contractor is mentioned in the documentation. The Statement of Work indicates a comprehensive project scope that will require significant technical expertise in commercial refrigeration installation, with contractors needing to provide certified on-site personnel and a dedicated project manager. The project involves precise temperature maintenance specifications, with coolers required to maintain 35-40°F and freezers maintaining -10°F to 0°F. Additionally, the contractor must provide a 5-year compressor warranty, conduct post-installation training for facility personnel, and submit comprehensive as-built drawings and system documentation. While no specific budget range is provided, the complexity of the project suggests a substantial investment in specialized refrigeration equipment and installation services.
