About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center has issued a Limited / Sole Source Justification Notice for repair and sustainment of JetScan Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (SEM/EDX) equipment. The contract, awarded to Rolls-Royce Corporation, is valued at $7,107,060 and will provide 24-hour telephone support and on-site repair services for JetScan machines used by the U.S. Air Force and Foreign Military Sales customers, specifically for F110/F118 engine programs. The justification for sole-source procurement stems from Rolls-Royce's proprietary hardware and software, and their explicit refusal to sell or transfer data rights to the U.S. Government. Market research confirmed Rolls-Royce as the only commercial source capable of meeting the specific technical support requirements for these sophisticated diagnostic systems used to detect engine material wear debris. The contract will run for one year with two one-year options, funded by both U.S. Air Force appropriated funds and Foreign Military Financing, covering repair and troubleshooting services for critical engine analysis equipment.
Notice text
The extended service/repair support shall provide for the repair and/or replacement of JetSCAN Equipment exhibiting defects in materials and workmanship subject to the exclusions specified. In addition, under said service/repair support, the contractor shall provide diagnostic support in response to reported equipment problems, and restore equipment performance.
Awarded contract FA811925D0005 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2025-04-16.
