About this opportunity

The Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research to identify potential repair sources for T-38 gyroscopes (Part Number 20100, NSN 6615-00-973-2657) and to determine if the requirement can be awarded competitively or as a Small Business Set-Aside, with business information responses due by September 25, 2026.

The requirement encompasses repair of 30 units in the basic configuration plus 30 units each for two optional configurations (90 total units). Work will be performed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Contractor responsibilities include all labor, materials, facilities, and equipment to repair, test, preserve, package, and return serviceable units, along with supply chain management, logistics, parts forecasting, long-lead parts procurement, reparable forecasting, obsolescence management, and asset delivery.

Potential sources must complete a Source Approval Request (SAR) package in accordance with Repair/Remanufacture Qualification Requirements (RQR-848, Revision 1), submitted electronically through DoD SAFE to 429SCMS.SASPO.Workflow@us.af.mil. Quality Assurance System certification must meet AS9100, ISO 9001:2008, NATO AQAP-2070, or equivalent standards. The government does not currently have associated technical data available; potential sources must independently acquire necessary technical data through the Air Force Technical Order Public Sales Office or by submitting a Request for Engineering Drawings with required fees.

The incumbent contractor is Olmsted Instrument Company (CAGE Code 4H237), which performed repairs under prior contracts awarded in February 2018 and March 2016. Latest repair cost was $5,258.53 per unit. The government welcomes responses from all business types including Small Businesses, Small Disadvantaged Businesses, 8(a) businesses, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, HUBZone businesses, and Women-Owned Small Businesses. This is market research only; no contractual commitment exists.
