About this opportunity

The Department of the Army National Guard is seeking a small business contractor to repair twelve single-leaf Mega Door brand aircraft hangar fabric doors at Building 138, located at the 174th Attack Wing Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse, New York. The project requires all work to be performed by Assa Abloy Certified Mega Door technicians inside the FAA Controlled Movement Area, with specific requirements including replacing motors, gear boxes, door fabric, conducting functionality testing, and performing comprehensive inspections. Contractors must complete a sources sought form and submit it to briana.mccaffery@us.af.mil by February 4, 2025, with the form requesting detailed company information including SAM registration, CAGE code, and socioeconomic status. This pre-solicitation notice is for planning purposes only, and interested parties are explicitly instructed not to submit quotes or proposals at this stage. The evaluation will focus on contractors' ability to meet the specialized certification requirements and demonstrate capability to perform the comprehensive door repair and replacement services.

The opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside under NAICS category 332321 (Metal Window and Door Manufacturing), with potential contractors required to have specific bonding capabilities ranging from $1M to $50M. Four doors previously had consumable parts replaced in March 2023, but funding was insufficient for comprehensive repairs, creating the current requirement to fully restore all twelve door systems to manufacturer and Department of Defense standards. The project scope includes complete demolition, recovery, and disposal of existing materials, as well as delivery and receiving of all new equipment and materials to Building 138. All on-site work will be performed within the controlled movement area, with contractors expected to provide all necessary labor, materials, tools, equipment, supervision, quality control, and project management. While no specific award value is mentioned, the comprehensive nature of the repair work suggests a significant investment in restoring the aircraft shelter's door functionality.
