About this opportunity
NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center has awarded a sole-source contract to Denmar Technical Services, Inc. for feasibility assessment, maintenance, modifications, and painting of a Boeing 737-73W aircraft to support the Reduced Gravity Test Bed Project on June 1, 2026 (contract 80AFRC26C0003).
The justification cites 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1), justified on the basis that only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements. Denmar is currently performing classified modifications on the USAF-owned aircraft under a separate military contract and possesses unique knowledge of the aircraft's airworthiness status that cannot be shared with competing contractors due to security restrictions. A synopsis was posted on SAM.gov on April 8, 2026, closing April 13, 2026; one response was received from Reduced Gravity Solutions Inc., deemed incapable of performing the required services. The constrained timeline for space suit validation testing in support of the Artemis program requires assessment and maintenance to begin immediately upon contract award with modifications completed by October 1, 2026, achievable only if work proceeds concurrently with USAF closeout tasks. Performance period runs June 1, 2026 to October 1, 2026. The contracting officer has determined anticipated costs will be fair and reasonable, with pricing to be analyzed per FAR 15.404-1 prior to contract execution. Estimated contract value is withheld.
