About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command, through the Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC), has issued a Special Notice for reagents needed for bacterial infection detection and surveillance activities. The procurement is specifically for the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit SOUTH (NAMRU SOUTH) Bacteriology Department and involves reagents to support bacterial infection detection, particularly gastrointestinal pathogens, in Latin American countries. The government proposes to award this contract on a sole-source basis to GENLAB DEL PERU, though they will consider capability statements from other interested vendors. The work will be performed in Lima, Peru, with a performance period extending from June 2025 to June 2026. This procurement falls under NAICS code 423450 for Medical, Dental, and Hospital Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers and will be conducted under FAR Part 12 Commercial Items guidelines.
The primary objective of this procurement is to obtain specialized reagents necessary for bacterial infection detection and surveillance operations supporting public health initiatives in Latin America. Interested contractors must submit capability statements by August 20, 2025, and the deliverables schedule requires delivery of 5 boxes within 5 days of order award, an additional 5 boxes within 60 days, and all remaining items within a maximum of 60 days after award. All contractors must be registered in the Systems for Award Management (SAM) with a valid Unique Entity Identification Number (UEI) to be eligible for consideration or award. The government emphasizes that no award can be made to vendors who are not properly registered in SAM, and vendors can register free of charge through www.sam.gov or by calling (866) 606-8220. While this is structured as a sole-source procurement to an authorized approved vendor, the government's willingness to review capability statements suggests potential opportunities for qualified vendors to demonstrate their capabilities for future similar requirements.
