About this opportunity
Veterans Integrated Service Network 20 (Veterans Health Administration) intends to solicit FDA-approved rapid syndromic molecular testing reagents and related consumables for the Seattle VA Puget Sound Medical Center, with a sources-sought capabilities statement deadline of August 6, 2026.
The procurement covers rapid molecular assays for infectious disease and oncology diagnostics, including tests for C. difficile, SARS-CoV-2 with Influenza A & B and RSV, Strep A, Mycobacterium tuberculosis with rifampicin resistance, multiplex vaginal panel, gastrointestinal pathogens, MRSA variants, carbapenem resistance markers, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, Norovirus, BCR-ABL, Factor II, and Factor V. All reagents must be compatible with existing VA-owned instrumentation, have storage temperatures of 2–28°C without requiring refrigeration, and be formatted as single-use test cartridges. Testing serves veterans across Washington State, Oregon, and Alaska, as well as bone marrow and solid organ transplant patients nationwide, utilizing direct patient samples including stool, urine, sputum, endotracheal aspirate, and nasopharyngeal or nasal/mid-turbinate swabs.
Vendors must deliver products within a reasonable timeframe following order placement and include shipping costs in quoted prices. Performance specifications range from 18 minutes for Strep A detection to 74 minutes for gastrointestinal panel results. All shipments must comply with IATA shipping regulations and arrive at appropriate storage temperatures.
The RFI is market research only, not a formal solicitation. Interested vendors must submit a capabilities statement including business name, address, point of contact, phone number, email, business size and type, SAM Unique Identifier, confirmation of capability to perform per the Statement of Work, and copies of all government licenses required. Responses are due by 10:00 am PST on August 6, 2026, to Hector Baltazar at hector.baltazar@va.gov. All inquiries must be submitted in writing only. The Government will use responses to determine acquisition strategy and identify qualified SDVOSB/VOSB sources.
