About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command issued a Pre-Solicitation Notice and Intent to Sole Source on May 5, 2026, announcing procurement of Puma Deployable Aircrew Radio Terminal (DART) kits from Sierra Nevada Corporation, the only responsible source available to meet the requirement. The notice will remain posted for eight calendar days, closing May 13, 2026.

The Puma DART is the sole multi-channel, single-man-portable communications suite certified by the Joint Special Operations Command to support Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) mission requirements. The system delivers 50 watts of RF power, integrated SATCOM diplexer/combiner, and Low Noise Amplifiers for weak receive signals, providing satellite, integrated, and line-of-sight communications capabilities for airborne applications. Procurement spans two new Puma Ground DART Kits and refurbishment of 19 existing kits to replace warped and obsolete equipment supporting the 437 Operations Group and 6th Air Refueling Wing SOAR missions at multiple locations including Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina and MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Market research conducted March 18, 2026, confirmed no competing vendors exist through mandatory sources, Federal Procurement Data System searches, or industry outreach. The acquisition falls below $10 million and is issued under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1), authorizing sole-source procurement when only one responsible source exists. No set-aside applies.
