About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Facilities Engineering Command intends to award a sole-source contract to CraneWorks, Inc. for crane maintenance, repair, alterations, demolition, load testing, certifications, and Government inspection assistance services across the National Capital Region, with a period of performance of one base year plus seven one-year option periods (July 2026 through July 2034).

The justification for sole-source award cites 10 U.S.C. Section 3204(a)(1), based on unique qualifications and specialized expertise. CraneWorks holds Navy P-307 certification and is accredited for maritime certifications and equipment testing. The contractor operates the Navy Crane Technical School and maintains comprehensive knowledge of Navy commercial and industrial crane maintenance requirements. Market research found no other qualified sources capable of performing the specialized work in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area without substantial cost duplication. The Government characterizes these services as mission-critical due to safety risks associated with improper equipment maintenance.

Place of performance is multiple Public Works Departments across the National Capital Region, including Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The contract covers recurring and non-recurring work, with funding provided annually from Navy Sustainment funds. The Independent Government Cost Estimate table reflects 16 CLINs organized by service type and contract period; specific pricing is redacted. NAICS code 811310; PSC J036.
