About this opportunity
The Bureau of Land Management Elko Field Office seeks quotes for mechanical mowing of approximately 1,664 acres to create a strategic fuel break in Elko County, Nevada, with quotes due July 20, 2026. The procurement is set-aside for small business concerns under NAICS 115310, with a small business size standard of $34.0 million.
Place of performance is approximately 16 miles west of Henry, Nevada and 65 miles north of Wells, Nevada. Work must be completed between September 15, 2026 and November 1, 2026. The contractor must furnish all labor, equipment (minimum four tractors of 90 or more horsepower and four rotary mowers with 13-foot minimum cutting swath), supervision, transportation, supplies, and materials. Equipment must be clean, free of fluid leaks, equipped with fire extinguishers and shovels, and include rollover protection structures. Vegetation must be cut to 4–6 inches height except where terrain restricts access. Work must cease when ground saturation causes rutting exceeding 3 inches.
This is a firm-fixed-price acquisition with compensation at a unit price per acre, measured by GPS and rounded up to the nearest whole acre. Acreage will be measured planar, and re-measurement may be requested in writing within 10 calendar days of project completion; if the difference between measurements exceeds 5%, payment will be based on the second measurement, and the contractor pays the re-measurement cost if the difference is 5% or less.
Evaluation is based on technical capability, past performance (minimum three similar projects completed within the past three years), and price, with technical and past performance weighted approximately equal to price. Contractors must be registered and active in SAM and must submit their Unique Entity ID and CAGE code with their quotes. Amendment 0001, posted July 6, corrected the Statement of Work to remove the term "seeding" and did not extend the proposal deadline.
