About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Strategic Acquisition Center Frederick is conducting market research for a potential national, single-award Requirements contract for Microscope: Spine systems, with responses due November 17, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time. No set-aside is used. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Non-Expendable Equipment National Program identified the product line as a candidate for the award. Orders would serve VA medical centers and facilities in the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside the Continental United States (OCONUS), as a firm-fixed-price Requirements contract with a 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods. The contractor must demonstrate the ability to meet all requirements. The described system includes motorized zoom and focus, hybrid optical/digital viewing, 4K or higher-resolution video and still capture, indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence options, navigation data overlays, compatibility with surgical navigation platforms, a counterbalanced mobile stand, HDMI/SDI connectivity, and DICOM/PACS export. Supporting wireless data functions depend on configuration. The attachment summary identifies ZEISS KINEVO 900 S systems as the basis for the requirement and describes a package of 64 contract line items covering the base system and optional modules, accessories, and peripherals. Responses go by email to Trevor.Mason@va.gov and Sara.Vickroy@va.gov and must include service plan details, UEI/CAGE/SAM registration, business size, manufacturer or distributor details, country of origin designation, technical literature addressing minimum technical requirements, and an authorized distributor letter from the original equipment manufacturer.
Notice text
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Non-Expendable Equipment National Program has identified the Microscope: Spine product line as a candidate for a VA-wide (otherwise referred to as “national”) single Requirements contract award.
The microscope provides a stable, maneuverable platform with motorized zoom and focus, long working‑distance lenses, and high‑intensity illumination suitable for deep spinal corridors. It supports hybrid optical/digital viewing, allowing the surgeon to operate through traditional eyepieces or external large‑format 3D monitors. Integrated imaging capabilities provide 4K or higher‑resolution video and still capture for clinical documentation, teaching, and intraoperative collaboration.
Systems of this type include fluorescence visualization options (e.g., ICG (indocyanine green)‑based vascular assessment), navigation data overlays, assistant viewing optics, and compatibility with surgical navigation platforms. The microscope is mounted on a mobile, counterbalanced stand or arm designed for smooth, low‑effort repositioning during procedures. It includes OR‑ready connectivity (HDMI/SDI), DICOM/PACS export options, and supports wireless data functions depending on configuration.
This equipment is used in neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgery, and related specialties requiring precise micro visualization during complex spinal procedures.
The Contractor must demonstrate the ability to meet all requirements for the solicitation. The objective is to provide Microscope: Spine throughout the VA medical centers and facilities located in the Continental United States (CONUS) or Outside of the Continental United states (OCONUS). The period of performance is for a base of 12-months with four 12-month option periods.
