About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Materiel Command Joint Munitions Command issued a notice of intent to sole source a purchase order for 16-inch and 20-inch parachutes for Crane Ammunition Activity, with a response deadline of August 12, 2026. This procurement is restricted to Yoland Corporation, the only qualified manufacturer, and will be awarded under FAR 6.302-1 without full and open competition using simplified acquisition procedures.

Yoland Corporation has completed the First Article Tests and Lot Acceptance Tests required for Upper Carrier Assembly parachutes, establishing material and technical ability to ensure uniform compatibility and performance matching previously supplied parachutes in the same systems. A second potential manufacturer identified during market research conducted June 16, 2026 has not yet completed the 69 FATs and 57 LATs necessary to qualify. The Government states that failure to approve single-source award would result in serious mission detriment due to production assembly deadlines and the absence of an alternative qualified source. This procurement is valued between the micro-purchase threshold ($15,000) and the Simplified Acquisition Threshold ($350,000), with performance in the Continental United States. This notice is not a request for offers; responses will be considered solely to determine whether future competitive procurements for this item should be conducted. The determination to proceed without competition rests solely within Government discretion.
